The GolfLAB is the only facility in South Africa that has the FocusBand™, known as the game changing technology for the future.
Since the game of golf began, instruction has followed and instructors talk about focus, intensity and being in the 'zone.' All of this has been verbal, conceptual and passive instruction. Now golfers can experience what it feels like to focus and control the mind.
With FocusBand™ the golfer learns to shift from left brain to right brain and uses Audio and Visual Bio-feedback as well as video, to train the golfer to quieten the conscious mind and hone in on the target thus coping with playing under pressure and being able to make quicker decisions which improve the performance on the course.
FocusBand is used by a number of players on the US PGA Tour - Rod Pampling, Greg Chalmers, Mike Weir, Jason Day, Daniel Summerhays, Chris Stroud, Padraig Harrington and D J Trahan.
Jason Day, winner of the 2015 PGA Championships at Whistling Straits, Michigan is a huge believer of the FocusBand, and will not practice golf without it. Sean Lynch, peak performance coach of Singapore golf and longtime associate of Jason Day, says the band is a main reason for his success.
“The band was developed five years ago and Jason has been using it quite extensively for the last 18 months. I call it the future of golf and it’s been one of the best things for Jason’s golf. Jason uses it in a lot of his practice sessions and also 10 minutes before he goes onto the course for tournaments. Once you’re on the course, golf is all mental.”
Lynch said the band allowed psychological data and the state of mind to be analysed. “You can look at the data and work out where the mind is at when the player is playing their best golf”.
