A Trip Down Memory Lane with Bettinardi and Their Remarkable Bettinardi Putters
Throughout Bettinardi’s rich history, they have consistently pushed boundaries in design, innovation, and craftsmanship. By employing Robert J. Bettinardi’s pioneering one-piece milled methodology, they elevated the industry’s quality standards and provided an unmatched sensory experience for golfers. The unique milling process yielded a 200% flatter face, eliminating the concave effect found on other manufacturers’ putters. To this, the Honeycomb™ milling was introduced.
In 1999, they made a significant impact during the PGA Tour with their revolutionary Honeycomb™ face milling, which, combined with Robert Bettinardi’s meticulous approach to crafting Bettinardi putters, resulted in unparalleled quality and an exceptional feel in the world of golf. The Honeycomb™ Bettinardi putters captivated the entire golfing industry.
In 2000, Bettinardi Golf added five new Bettinardi putters to their range, including the BB41, BB42, part of the highly acclaimed Millennium Series. Crafted with 303 Stainless Steel, these exceptional putters featured brass plugs strategically placed on the face and brass ingots adorning the flange, heel, and toe. These remarkable creations served as the centrepiece of an extended collection, exemplifying the pinnacle of Bettinardi’s craftsmanship during his earlier career. Alongside the Millennium Series, the BB11, BB16, and BB19 models were also unveiled.
In 2006, driven by an unwavering commitment to quality, craftsmanship and precision, Bettinardi Golf partnered with Mizuno for a remarkable four-year collaboration. This endeavour resulted in the creation of the C-Series and Black Carbon Series line of putters. Concurrently, Bettinardi perfected and patented the F.I.T. (Feel-Impact Technology) Face milling technique, which removed approximately 55% of the material from the face, delivering a softer impact feel.
Following a prosperous partnership with the Mizuno Golf Company, Robert decided to independently revive Bettinardi Golf as a standalone brand. In 2010, he embarked on this journey by reintroducing the BB Series, showcasing five timeless head designs complemented by an elegant black chrome finish. The subsequent year saw the introduction of the Studio Stock and Signature Series putters, expanding the product line with fresh collections and greater diversity. In 2012, the Queen B lineup emerged, offering golfers distinctive decorative finishes and heavier head styles.
In 2013, a significant addition unfolded within the company as Robert’s son, Sam, joined the team, infusing fresh talent and dynamics into the Bettinardi Golf brand. This successfully family-operated business experienced remarkable growth, expanding its product range to include wedges, collaborating with Matt Kuchar to develop arm-lock putter technology, and achieving victory in 19 professional events. Today, Bettinardi products are available in over 40 countries, and the brand boasts a formidable Tour Staff consisting of esteemed players such as Matt Kuchar, Jim Herman, Jason Kokrak, and Hall of Famer Fred Couples, alongside emerging talents from the LPGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour.
